I am joining my new boyfriend of four months and his family for a vacation. It is the parents’ 50th wedding anniversary and he, his siblings and their spouses have purchased a gift. Should I bring something as well, separately, since he and I are not married?

Jessica, I think it would be a nice gesture to give his parents something. You can get ideas from your boyfriend as to what they’d like. Since the relationship is fairly new, however, I would make sure the gift isn’t large or extravagant. If the siblings’ spouses or significant others are also chipping in, maybe your boyfriend will allow you to chip in as well — in which case I wouldn’t bring a separate gift.
