Silly Superstition: Is it OK for the groom to see his bride’s wedding dress before the wedding?

Q: What is the proper etiquette concerning the groom seeing the bride’s wedding dress?  Is it that he cannot see the bride in her dress or is it that he can not see the dress at all?

A: In the past, it was considered bad luck for the groom to see the wedding dress or his fiancé in the wedding dress before the wedding.  However, today that is no longer the case.  A groom may even take part in selecting the dress.  Nonetheless, many brides prefer to keep their wedding dress a surprise and have their fiancés first see it as they walk down the aisle.  It’s a personal choice.
