My boss is intensely rude in just about every way possible. Everything from loud, unnecessary feet shuffling, sneezing and coughing directly onto people without his mouth covered, interrupting phone conversations and meetings with non-urgent comments or questions, to rooting through people’s desks to find office supplies because he lost his. Essentially he is extremely rude and extremely disruptive just about every moment he is in the office. My questions is – how do I deal with this kind of behavior? In general I like my job and I don’t want to “nag” him constantly about his behavior, but it’s getting to the point where it’s intolerable.

You start looking for a new job. It is not an easy thing in this economy but start the process. If you see him looking in your desk for office supplies you say certainly let me help you find that and walk him to the office supply cabinet. If on the phone and he interrupts you you put the person on hold for a second and tell him you will get back to him in a few minutes when done with the phone call. Feet shuffling you ignore. If he sneezes around you you offer him a tissue. But mainly it is time to find a new job.
