    Is it proper, expected, for me to send condolence cards to my sister in laws at the passing of their (and my husbands)’ mom

      It is certainly proper for you to send them a card, but perhaps not expected if you saw them a great deal during the funeral (assuming you expressed your condolences at that time).

      Think of it similarly to a baby shower. So gift should be for kid or for parents relating to their taking care of the kid.
