Your “official” list of forms of address omits an important class of people – important for anyone who wants to talk to or about them. Lutheran clergy. A Lutheran cleric is Pastor _____ (abbreviated Pr. _____), not Mr. _____ or Ms. _____.

I’m surprised you didn’t know that already. Check with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, and the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod to see if that’s not so.

I have been a member of several different denominations (long story). I have been taught to call clerics Father, Reverend, Pastor, Brother, and Doctor depending on the demonination. I would assume that, if you are addressing them, you would probably know their preference. However, if you are not sure, you could check with someone you know who is a member of that denomination. I can understand why EP does not specify.
