You’re Not Married Yet: No wedding band before the wedding

Q: I was recently engaged, and due to my fiance’s desire to have a matching bridal set, also recently purchased the wedding band. My fiance and I have decided that it will be at least two years until the big day. She would like to wear her wedding band in the interim. She was under the impression that it was acceptable to wear the wedding band prior to the wedding if it was worn on the outside of the engagement ring. Is that acceptable?

A: She may certainly wear her engagement ring but not the wedding band. A wedding band signifies marriage and therefore should not be worn until the wedding.
