My wife and I were married in May of 1964. In January of 1992 we were divorced.
In December of 2001 we were remarried. May of 2014 would be the 50th anniversary of our marriage. Can we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the marriage even though we were divorced for 10 years?
An anniversary acknowledges a specific event, in this case your wedding. It has been 50 years since your wedding so you can celebrate your 50-year wedding anniversary. Just avoid the phrase “50 years of marriage,” and you’ll be okay.
