Q: Is it okay for a woman to apply lipstick and lip liner when eating in public? I have not been able to find a definitive answer on the subject. Some say that it is acceptable as long as she’s discreet (for example, behind a napkin) while others maintain that it’s not acceptable at all and that she should go to the ladies room. Many make a distinction between lipstick and other types of makeup such as blush or eye liner.
A: It is okay to apply lipstick if it doesn’t involve gazing into a mirror, making a production out of it, using lip liner, etc. A quick application that is over almost before it began is fine. Anything more should be taken care of in the ladies room.

In a more upscale restaurant, please go to the ladies room. Inside a casual or fast food – at the table is fine with me if I were the dining-in customer.
