Q: Is drinking from a water bottle in public, such as church or a
restaurant, appropriate?
A: Water bottles (and also coffee cups) often seem to be permanently attached to people these days! In formal settings, such as church, it’s best to be discreet in drinking beverages if it must be done at all. As for restaurants, patrons should not bring their own beverages — instead they should choose drinks from the menu. In the most casual restaurants, water may be served in a bottle, and that’s fine. If you’re concerned at all, it’s OK to request a glass for the water you purchased.
