Should men who are on the platform/stage stand to their feet when a lady comes to the platform/stage/podium?

I imagine it would depend on the circumstances. I’m a musician so my first thought was a musical concert setting. If I am playing in an orchestra and all the orchestra members are gathering on stage, I would never expect male members of the orchestra to stand when I walk on stage. The only time in this situation when anyone would stand is when the conductor and/or soloist walks on stage at the beginning of the piece, at which point it is customary for the whole orchestra to stand regardless of gender. It is not customary to stand if the conductor or soloist exits the stage and then comes back (as they sometimes do) unless they gesture for the orchestra to stand again.
