I live on the East Coast and our weather has been very warm for the month of March. My question is; when is it okay to begin wearing open toe shoes/sandals… Should I follow the white clothing rule (between Memorial Day and Labor Day)?

I’m not sure what etiquette experts would say on the subject, but for whatever it is worth Clinton Kelly and Stacy London of TLC’s What Not to Wear say it is okay to wear white any time of year. :)

Boy it has been warm this spring. ( I am also on the east coast) The rule of memorial day and labor day is a good one as it prevents people from looking wildly seasonally inappropriate at various tines of the year. The laughable person who shows up at a Christmas party in open toes sandles and then complains about their cold feet when they had to walk through a few inches of snow and the like. I’m not sure this is an ettiquete issue so much as a fashion issue. I would say to keep the white till after memorial day but if you have a cute pair of open toe shoes you want to wear on a warm day before that you should go for it.
