I have only experienced this once in my life – it was when I cooked steaks for dinner for my husband and I, and he unexpectedly brought a colleague home for dinner. Unlike a stew or other kind of food, steaks are just not shareable in that way and I didn’t have time to go out and get another one. We ended up giving one steak to the colleague, and then we shared the second one. We had good amounts of all the sides, so it wasn’t a big deal. But at a big family dinner, especially a holiday dinner, not having enough food is simply inconceivable – we normally have way too much. I think my family just really likes leftovers.
