Calling it Quits & Returning the Gifts

by epi on November 9, 2011

Q: My nephew was married four months ago and now his new bride wants to call it quits. What is the proper thing they should do with the wedding gifts?

A: All wedding gifts should be returned, with a brief note of explanation. Gifts that have been used, such as bed linens, cannot be returned, but a short note of explanation should be sent to the giver.

I am eloping to Paris in the Spring. Neither my father nor his parents are paying for it, how would we announce the marriage? I would like to do announcements.
