As an adjunct professor, it’s always a little bit tricky balancing my schedule from semester to semester. I was recently invited to an interview at another local university to teach in the fall. My fall schedule is full, but I wonder if I should schedule an interview in case opportunities arise when I’m not as busy. Or is that misleading and wasting the interviewer’s time?

    • Polite Punk,
I would recommend you go ahead with the interview at the other university and look at it as an opportunity for you both to get acquainted. Your fall schedule may be full, but in the world of acadamia, things are always changing (I am also an adjunct professor at a local college) and you may find yourself with some open hours after all, or the winter schedule may open up different possibilities for you. What’s that saying? “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket!”

It is a good opportunity to make yourself known — go for it, and enjoy!
