i am hosting a very formal dinner, black tie and evening gowns. I have been told in the past that the forks go to the right of the plate in eating order with the knife closest to the plate and the spoons on the left of the plate. When has this changed to just the opposite and can i find this older fashioned settings somewhere?

help!!!

I was about to direct you to someplace on this site, but you mentioned you wanted to set an “older-style” formal dinner. I found some information from Emily Post’s 1922 book, in the chapter How to Set a Table (starts on page 194, with the flatware and silver positioning on page 196). Hope this helps!
