Graduations Gifts: What if yours can’t compare?

by EPI Staff on May 17, 2011

Q: Last year, my neighbors gave my daughter an expensive necklace for graduation. I can’t afford anything comparable for their son. What should I do?

A: The price tag isn’t the only measure of a present’s value–and gifts should always fit your budget. So you don’t have to reciprocate in the same way or price range. To make your present person, home in on what interests him: If he’s a musician, hunt down a concert DVD he doesn’t have; if he’s a sports fan, look for his favorite athlete’s autograph on eBay.
