A: This is one instance where interrupting is recommended! If you try a gentle but firm “Honey, I really would rather not share that story,” hopefully he’ll get the hint. If he doesn’t, you can interject a wry comment while he’s talking – as long as it’s clear that you’re being a sport. Save the chiding for at home, where you should also agree upon which personal stories are off-limits for social chitchat.
