Rising to the Occasion: To stand or not to?

by EPI Staff on April 14, 2010

Q: When two women are having lunch or dinner in a restaurant and a third stops by their table, should they stand while greeting her?

A: No, if the meal is a social one, but yes-briefly-if it’s business.  Just be careful not to block the paths of waiters and fellow diners.

My husband and I went to a wedding last Nov. and have not yet received a thank you card. We know the bride and her parents very well. It bothers me greatly. What to do??? Contact the bride or her mom?

This is an unfortunate omission on the part of the newlyweds. I would mention it to the couple. Simply let them know that while you had a great time at their wedding you have not received an acknowledgment of your gift and you want to be sure they did indeed get it.
