Not a Thing to Wear: Caught in the middle?

by EPI Staff on April 19, 2010

Q: I’m invited to a work related awards banquet. A coworker told me I should wear something nicer than business attire but not formal.  I’m clueless on where that leave me.

A: Your profession and your location will influence what you wear.  A safe course of action is going with a good suit or a dress that’s just a notch below “cocktail”-what’s called business dressy.  You don’t have to buy something new.  Take one of your better business-day outfits and dress it up with accessories, such as a nice scarf or some jewelry.

You can never go wrong with a black suit, pants or skirt, but your shoes and hair will make a world of difference. Dress your suit up with a pair of fancy shoes,a pair that would not typically be worn to the office. Wear your hair up instead of down, curled instead of straight. Good luck…*Gilly*
