When you leave the table during a meal you "always" place the napkin on the table ( most often to the left of the plate). This way you reduce the risk of applying food from the napkin to your chair and possibly your clothing as well. We have heard too many stories where this is the result of a napkin left in or on a chair.

What should you do with your napkin when you are temporarily leaving the table (buffet) vs when you are finished?

One should not use a table napkin to wipe one's nose; if one doesn't have a tissue or handkerchief handy, visit the powder room.

I'd be reluctant to mention it. Since it was purchased overseas, it might not be possible to return it, and might put your daughter in a awkward position.

Generally, if something is shipped directly from a vendor, and there is a problem, you should contact the vendor directly to resolve the issue.

Could you tell me if it is alright to wipe your nose with your napkin while sitting at the table? Thank you!

I received a gift from my daughter which was purchased overseas. It is made of glass later I discovered it had been broken and glued. Should I mention this to my daughter?
Thanks.
