What’s the proper way to introduce an in-law? My spouse’s siblings introduce me as “my brother’s wife, Jane.” I’ve never been introduced as “my sister-in-law, Jane.”, given that my husband is usually introduced first and is identified as “my brother, John”.
I believe that’s quite correct: “This is my brother, John, and his wife, Jane.” If your husband were not present at an event, that’s when “This is my brother John’s wife, Jane.” or “This is my sister-in-law, Jane.” might come in handy.
Q. My husband swears it is extrememly poor etiquette to use your bread to mop up anything on your plate, be it butter, sauce or gravy. Does anyone else have opinions about this? I have not ever heard anyone else discuss this, and have seen many prominent Americans mop with their bread.
Your husband is correct.
