I don’t think establishing bans on a useful tool is the way to solve people’s etiquette problems, while I’m horrified at the thought of listening to a loud and obnoxious person talk on their cellphone for a flight, I have no interest in punishing people who can make their life more efficient – hopefully allowing for more quality ‘cell phone/blackberry free’ time later…

I think it should be limited to texting. That way we don’t have to listen to people “run off at the head”. It is bad enough in the grocery store, where you can walk away from them. You are pretty much “trapped” in the airplane.
