Intel has sponsored a survey (conducted by Harris Interactive) that says 90% of us are annoyed. By whom? You–because it certainly can’t be me!–and your lack of mobile manners while using your laptop, Blackberry, smart phone and/or netbook.
Take a look at the Intel mobile manners survey.
Also included are some funny “good-manners-vs.bad-manners” videos from ijustine, a very cool, self-proclaimed “new media chick” and Intel Insider. Go Justine!
With more and more super-slick mobile devices, and ways and places to use them, it’s natural for human beings to misuse and abuse. That’s because the guidelines for polite usage are still evolving.
When you apply the principles of etiquette–honesty, respect and consideration–polite usage shows a close relationship to common sense. Focus on the people you are with, not the device in front of you (i.e. using your Blackberry in a meeting doesn’t make you look important, it makes you look like a jerk).
