Grocery Store Gripe: To move the cart or not?

by EPI Staff on April 9, 2009

Q: It drives me crazy when someone’s cart blocks the aisle in the grocery store. Should I move it or should I say something to the person?

A: Short of shopping at 3:00 a.m., you’re unlikely to make it through the store without a cart jam. A polite “excuse me” usually works, but you may have to repeat yourself, especially if the person is on a quest to find the cereal with the highest fiber content. If there’s no one in sight, push the cart aside gently.

Don’t underestimate the importance of finding that cereal. It’s serious stuff. I’ve been known to black out while in the zone. But I always find what I’m looking for. (And I always, but always, keep my cart close to me and out of the aisle.)
